Puppy-Sitting

We watched Jackie & Braxton's little puppy on the 24th while they were in Vegas (for the Donny & Marie concert) and she was just the cutest little puppy ever. Now Tyler and I want one. Yes, crazy as it may seem, I want a puppy. (I DO like small dogs, except when they are yappy and bark bark bark all the time...)
Look how cute:

Also, exciting news, I golfed on a real course tonight with Tyler and our friends Matt & Wendy. It was fun. I obviously did not do very well, but I did better that I had originally expected I guess... I did lose 2 balls, but one of them was totally worth it because it actually went up in the air, and probably went further than any ball I've ever hit. So it happened to land in the water with a big giant splash, who cares?!? Did you see how pretty it looked sailing through the air?

Unfortunately it got too dark to finish the last hole, and we basically got kicked off the course because it was too late... But it was pretty fun. I would probably do it again. :) (We'll see...)

Baby Blankets

I found out the other day that one of my friends has been making and selling baby blankets. I thought, that is just perfect timing! And they are SOOOO adoreable, I just had to show you what I got for a few friends/family that are getting ready to have their babies soon.

If anyone wants, I can pass on the info of my friend that makes these, they even have cute little burp cloths that come with them! Aren't they amazing?!?

Firsts

On Friday I had my first ever golf lesson. Tyler is very patient with me, but we've decided that if at any point, him teaching me golf causes us stress, I'm taking actual lessons from someone else. :) It probably won't be necessary though. We ordered some "petite" golf clubs for me, but they hadn't come yet, and the anticipation became too much, so we tackled the practice greens with Tyler's clubs! Putting is apparently the key. That is what I learned from lesson one. Then Tyler got to hit the small bucket of balls we got to practice with off the driving range... I'm not quite there yet. Also, Tyler was very offended that I forgot to mention something about a week ago, or right around the 4th of July... Was it ON the 4th? uh-oh... ANYWAY, here is a grand announcement: My Husband, Tyler Johanson hit a HOLE-IN-ONE He saved the ball, and wrote on it the date and who was there with him (he did have witnesses). Anyway, here are some pics of my lesson:

Economy

Ok so i'm not usually one to pass stuff on, or even pay much attention to things like this, but Delta Airlines sent an email out today that I think could be significant. We know that airline prices keep climbing and that makes it so much harder to visit those we love in other parts of the Country, or even (especially!) the world!
If this can make a difference, even 5 years from now, it would be worth it! It's really simple, just click on the link given in the body of this email from Delta and enter your zip-code.

AN OPEN LETTERTO ALL AIRLINE CUSTOMERSFrom 12 Airline CEOs.

Hello Mrs. Johanson,

Our country is facing a possible sharp economic downturn because of skyrocketing oil and fuel prices, but by pulling together, we can all do something to help now.
For airlines, ultra-expensive fuel means thousands of lost jobs and severe reductions in air service to both large and small communities. To the broader economy, oil prices mean slower activity and widespread economic pain. This pain can be alleviated, and that is why we are taking the extraordinary step of writing this joint letter to our customers.
Since high oil prices are partly a response to normal market forces, the nation needs to focus on increased energy supplies and conservation. However, there is another side to this story because normal market forces are being dangerously amplified by poorly regulated market speculation.
Twenty years ago, 21 percent of oil contracts were purchased by speculators who trade oil on paper with no intention of ever taking delivery. Today, oil speculators purchase 66 percent of all oil futures contracts, and that reflects just the transactions that are known. Speculators buy up large amounts of oil and then sell it to each other again and again. A barrel of oil may trade 20-plus times before it is delivered and used; the price goes up with each trade and consumers pick up the final tab. Some market experts estimate that current prices reflect as much as $30 to $60 per barrel in unnecessary speculative costs.
Over seventy years ago, Congress established regulations to control excessive, largely unchecked market speculation and manipulation. However, over the past two decades, these regulatory limits have been weakened or removed. We believe that restoring and enforcing these limits, along with several other modest measures, will provide more disclosure, transparency and sound market oversight. Together, these reforms will help cool the over-heated oil market and permit the economy to prosper.
The nation needs to pull together to reform the oil markets and solve this growing problem.
We need your help. Get more information and contact Congress by visiting www.StopOilSpeculationNow.com.

We drove down to Provo on Saturday for a Gwilliam family picnic. Here are a few pics of the fam:

Here they are from the front! I couldn't let them get away with that...

There was some Frisbee action going on, and some watching frisbee... We just basically hung out and visited, and ate... Typical Family gathering, eh?And of course, we had ice cream! Thanks Mary Ann and Dane!
